Relationships With Other Law Firms

The Hoffman Patent Firm employs an associate, William “Bill” Markov, who knows intellectual-property law and the patent sales environment.

Bill is registered patent attorney licensed to practice law in Arizona and before the U.S. Patent Office. In 2008, Bill graduated from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. While attending ASU, Bill earned a certificate from the Center for the Study of Law, Science, and Technology, for his extensive coursework in area of intellectual property. Bill also won a CALI Excellence for the Future award for outstanding academic achievement in international contracts and contingency fee patent litigation. In addition to his academic achievements, Bill also received a pro bono distinction for his work with the Arizona Justice Project.

Bill attended the University of California at Berkeley, where he was a member of Golden Key International Honour Society and received a Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics in 1998.  Bill is a Microsoft Certified Professional and has several years experience in computer network and database administration.

Bill and his wife, Shelley, are Southern California natives.  Their daughter, Layla, was born in 2008.

The Hoffman Patent Firm also relies on paraprofessionals with extensive experience and understanding of the practice:

  • Shaelyn Weldy, lead paralegal, handles patent-prosecution matters, especially docketing and file organization, and has been a paralegal with the Hoffman Patent Firm since 1992.
  • Donald Hertz acts as office manager and special assistant to Mr. Hoffman. He has worked for the Hoffman Patent Firm since 1999.

Our professionals and para-professionals supervise other workers, coordinate work, and help clients and parties to patent sales transactions.
