The Hoffman Patent Firm often represents clients on a contingency or “success-fee” basis, where our fees are paid as a percentage of recovery. Contingency fees allow a law firm and client to have a common interest. Contingency representation also allows us to provide quality representation to clients who lack the resources to pay hourly fees.
In accordance with attorney ethics rules and firm standards, the Hoffman Patent Firm will never accept compensation from both sides of a transaction. Many brokers or intermediaries receive “finder’s fees” from buyers, as well as receiving payment from sellers. The same is true with “auction houses.” Be careful of alternatives!
In nearly all instances, the Hoffman Patent Firm represents sellers, or representatives of sellers. Our role is to assist patentees in commercializing inventions.
